A television executive and father remembers Michael Jackson.

MUMBAI: The year: 1996. Thousands of fans have formed serpentine queues running into miles outside the venue where Michael Jackson is supposed to perform in Mumbai. Kids are screaming, begging to be allowed in but, security is high and only the lucky few who have got tickets are allowed in. The concert at the Andheri Sports Complex was put together by Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray's nephew Raj Thackeray and his Shiv Udyog Sena.

Mbira, gumboot workshops in BC

Ted Wright is currently conducting African music workshops in British Columbia. Wright is a member of  Marimba Muzuva based in Vancouver.

"At Bopoma we use the joyful and energetic rhythms and melodies of Zimbabwe and Southern Africa as a means for everyone to enjoy music. Our programs are fun and educational, designed to allow participants to experience the delight of playing music from Africa together in community," reads a statement from the organisers of the workshop.

The workshops include marimba, mbira,  drum,  gumboot dance

President Obama Praises Zimbabwe's Tsvangirai, Pledges $73 Million Aid

Culminating a five-day visit to the United States, Zimbabwean President Morgan Tsvangirai met on Friday with U.S. President Barack Obama (pictured left) who praised the former opposition leader's leadership and courage and pledged $73 million to help the Zimbabwean people.
